Happenings Lately

Here are some photos of what has been happening lately. The first two are of world cup soccer supporters - winners and losers. Everyone in the house was supporting Spain, except for Rohan, because of a bet. (He lost the bet.) Thanks for our new T-Shirts:) We have been wearing them all the time. The last photos are of our overnight tramp at Mt Robert. We had perfect weather, except for our walk across the ridge, which was really cold. Not like it will be in Utah. We will be seeing you soon:)

Guinea Pigs

This video was made with the help of our Wellington film crew, Ella and Maia (and we didn't help at all), but we think you will like it.
No animals were harmed in the making of this film.

Goblins and Washes

Here are some pictures from our desert camping trip last weekend. A couple are of a dry wash we hiked along and the others are of Goblin Valley.

Strange Animals

There are some strange and slightly sinister animals living in our house.

Bivouacs

We built bivouacs in the back garden to sleep in, but just when we were about to go outside it started pouring with rain, and the inside turned into a lake, so we decided to sleep out another night.

Today in 'N'

Yesterday we painted eggs for Easter- the latest craft club thing. 16 in total - all very different and beautiful. Some had an Alice in Wonderland theme because our friend Duncan was reading it out to us as we painted. We painted from 10 am to 4 pm it was so much fun! And we ate home made hot cross buns and drank home made grape juice. YUM! Last week it was Finn's fishing birthday party. Finn caught one quite small snapper that had to go back, and we saw a shag catch a puffer fish. And that was it! No fish to be had. Finn is sailing all Easter weekend in the Scouting Regatta. The rest of us are being relaxed and creative and intermittently active. This morning we set up an orienteering course at Tahuna beach as a vehicle for finding Easter eggs. The weather is still so warm there may be one last swim this weekend as well. As far as we are concerned Summer's sister Autumn is very warm and friendly. Arohanui big time XXX

Today in SLC

Today in SLC:
Ruby learned to ride a pedal bike. We met a cute dog outside kate's school - but it wasn't really her birthday. I lifted weights (third time this week!). Andy roasted a chicken. We buried our first batch of bokashi in the garden. It looked like barf but smelled like pickles. Hopefully no animals will dig it up tonight.

Missing all of you!

Hi Rohan, Sally, Finn, Bini and Lee!

Life is back to normal. We've settled into our groove here and our days feel more predictable. I think we are even fairly close to being unpacked - both our boxes from NZ and all the stuff we put away to make space for our renters.
But now that it feels like we are really 'here', you all feel really far away and I'm missing you heaps.
I've been taking pictures to post so that we can share what we're up to. Mostly I've been snapping them with my phone which doesn't help my paltry photography skills but I'm going to post them anyway.
Here's what we've been up to: Andy and I have been doing some skiing on our own - last week we went ski touring, and today we skied at Alta with some friends. Both were powder days :-). Most of the snow has been falling in the mountains but we did get one big storm in the valley. Enough snow stuck to the sidewalk that the girls rode on sleds to school along with our neighbors. But mostly we've been getting around by bike. We went Geocaching in our neighborhood one day. Have you tried it before? It's a great excuse for walk. Kate is learning to read more all the time. Last week she started reading books on her own just for fun. We taught some friends how to felt soaps - feltworld has officially gone global. We got a new computer so Andy and I have been spending some time organizing our files and music library. Next I'm going to work on organizing our photo library. I'm sure i'll be posting some gems in the process.
Hope you are all well. xxxooo Megan

I think this youtube video is worth watching. It's along the same lines as the meatrix.

Alta Java

Drinking hot chocolate at Alta Java after a couple of runs. Ruby did a little skiing all by herself today. She usually stays tucked in between andy's skis. Kate went off a jump all by herself - also a first. Even though we opted for the beach style chairs, I think we were well out of tsunami range. We are missing all of you! We collected a sticker to send you today.

Weet-Bix Tryathlon

We had had the Weet-Bix Tryathlon today, but the swim was cancelled because of the tsunami warning. So we were hanging out right next to the beach instead, running and biking, and we met Georgina Evers-Swindell.

We are finally downloading photos from our cameras. We were far too busy having fun with all of you to do it while we were still in Nelson. Here is a good one from Cable Bay.

More mud.
