Missing all of you!

Hi Rohan, Sally, Finn, Bini and Lee!

Life is back to normal. We've settled into our groove here and our days feel more predictable. I think we are even fairly close to being unpacked - both our boxes from NZ and all the stuff we put away to make space for our renters.
But now that it feels like we are really 'here', you all feel really far away and I'm missing you heaps.
I've been taking pictures to post so that we can share what we're up to. Mostly I've been snapping them with my phone which doesn't help my paltry photography skills but I'm going to post them anyway.
Here's what we've been up to: Andy and I have been doing some skiing on our own - last week we went ski touring, and today we skied at Alta with some friends. Both were powder days :-). Most of the snow has been falling in the mountains but we did get one big storm in the valley. Enough snow stuck to the sidewalk that the girls rode on sleds to school along with our neighbors. But mostly we've been getting around by bike. We went Geocaching in our neighborhood one day. Have you tried it before? It's a great excuse for walk. Kate is learning to read more all the time. Last week she started reading books on her own just for fun. We taught some friends how to felt soaps - feltworld has officially gone global. We got a new computer so Andy and I have been spending some time organizing our files and music library. Next I'm going to work on organizing our photo library. I'm sure i'll be posting some gems in the process.
Hope you are all well. xxxooo Megan

  1. I guess only an i-phone could produce such lovely photos. Who needs a camera eh. You all look very happy and we love seeing photos of your neighbourhood. We want more!! That includes your neighbourhood skifield as well.
    WE are all great thanks.
Autumn is here with squally sou'westerlies back to remind us of our December Jolly Boat trip. Two weeks ago Bini had the pleasure of a wild ride out on the keeler Kave is crewing on for the last summer races of the season. They were surrounded by gear failures, broken masts and even a man overboard, but got through the race unscathed. Moments like that are not pleasurable as a parent I find.
Tonight is her turn again and there is a light sea breeze. Perfect.
So the nights are cooler, the days spectacularly clear and warm and the conditions are great for just about every outdoor pursuit except skiing.
I tramped into little Kea Hut on Mt Robert last weekend with a friend. The wind was supposed to be horrible so we were planning a short visit but Saturday morning was fine with light winds so we made it all the way along the ridge to Angelus and back out to the car by 6 pm. What a liberating experience leaving 5 pm Friday, falafel in Richmond and at the hut by 8pm. then home for a day with the family Sunday. We like the concept so much Kave and I are doing it again this week. Mt Arthur we think this time with a Friday night bivvie on the ridge and home by mid-afternoon Saturday.
We have booked our trip to walk the Tongariro Crossing and climb Ngarauhoe the week after Easter. Life is suitably full of plans and adventures at present.
And then there's crafting plans but that may take its own blog posting to cover everything so please wait patiently...
